Book Review:

Artemis Fowl is a genius criminal mastermind.  He has found the mysterious and hidden fairy people, stolen the sacred book, and hatched a hideous scheme to steam the legendary fairy gold.  He is all of 12 years old.

His plan hinges around the kidnapping of a fairy who is out to complete the ritual and restore their magic.  But, he wants to capture them before the ritual is complete and while their magic is still low.

The unlucky fairy who crosses paths with Artemis is Holly Short.
Holly is an LEP agent, from the LEPrecon Special Forces.

Unfortunately for Artemis, he has more than met his match with Holly.

The adventure gets hot for Artemis as he faces off against the array of special forces and technology that the fairy world can toss at him.

Has Artemis crossed the line of no return?

Will the fairy people cave in to his demand of a ton of gold ingots in exchange for one of their own?

My Note:
I have loved Artemis since I first encountered him in 2003.  I love his brains, and the unexpected touch of humanity that lurks just beneath his cold calculating exterior.  It's been a while since I've read any of his books, but with the release of the final book in the Artemis Fowl Series (The Last Guardian)  I wanted to re-read the earlier books to remind myself how it all began.  The growth of Artemis as a person through the series is touching.  I love how the author grows Artemis' character across time.  If you have middle school boys who are looking for a good read, this just might be the series for them!
