Bucket List

This is a work in progress.  The 14th anniversary of my 36th birthday Bucket List.
The kids are grown, and the last one flies the coop this fall.  What to do, where to go, what things can I accomplish in the next 50 years?  I will be adding to this list as time goes on.

1) Visit all 50 states.
Alabama              Indiana                Nebraska                 South Carolina
Alaska                 Iowa                    Nevada                    South Dakota
Arizona               Kansas                 New Hampshire      Tennessee
Arkansas             Kentucky             New Jersey              Texas
California            Louisiana            New Mexico            Utah
Colorado             Maine                  New York                Vermont
Connecticut        Maryland             North Carolina         Virginia
Delaware            Massachusetts      North Dakota           Washington
Florida                Michigan             Ohio                         West Virginia
Georgia               Minnesota           Oklahoma                 Wisconsin
Hawaii                Mississippi          Oregon                      Wyoming
Idaho                  Missouri               Pennsylvania
Illinois                Montana               Rhode Island

2) Go to New Zealand, hike the Hobbit Trail.  (Lord of the Rings sites)

3) Visit Mile 0 in Key West.

4) Travel up the Pacific Coast Highway in a Convertible.
We traveled part of it in 2019 in a rented SUV with the windows rolled down.  Does that count?  We went south from San Francisco to Monterrey.

5) Hike most of the Appalachian Trail.  (This will have to be done in parts, as I'm older now, and not sure I could through hike it all at once!)

6) Visit Australia
Done - March 2018.  We only visited Sydney, but I feel that we thoroughly explored the city!  I would like to go back some day!

7) Ireland

8) Scotland

9) Great Britain- especially London.

10) Go to Prince Edward Island, visit Avonlea (home of Anne of Green Gables)

11) Meet a President of the United States.
I've received a letter from Jimmy Carter.  Does that count?

12) Start a successful business.

13) Become a successful author.
I don't know how successful I am, but I do have several very kind people who stop by here to read what I've written.  In my book, when people are willing to spend their time with you reading what you have written, THAT is success.

14) Pay off our house.

15) Take the train through Europe.  (I might be a little to old to stay in Youth Hostels this time!)

16) Hike/Bike as many Rails to Trails as possible, beginning with Maryland:
Maryland Trails:
Anacostia Tributary Trail System
Allegheny Highlands Trail of Maryland
Baltimore & Annapolis Trail
BWI Trail
Capital Crescent Trail
Chesapeake & Ohio Canal Trail
Great Allegheny Passage
Indian Head Rail Trail
Northern Central Railroad Trail
Rock Creek Trail
Washington, Baltimore and Annapolis Trail
Western Maryland Rail Trail

17) Travel the length of the Mississippi River, just like Huck Finn did in the book of the same name, written by Mark Twain.  (Maybe not on a raft lashed together with odds and ends, though.)

18) Niagra Falls
