Random Photos

A random collection of photos that have accumulated on my phone over the past couple of months...

We went to see Patti LaBelle in concert.  The woman is absolutely amazing!  What a treat!

The Beach on a chilly April day is delightful!

Who doesn't need dinosaur sand toys?

And below - two different varieties of flowering cherry trees from around my neighborhood.
They were so pretty this year!

Random Pictures

A random sampling of the things that tickle me so much while I'm out and about that I have to take a picture of them so I can share them with other people!  If you know me in real life, you know it's just a matter of time before I break out my phone and say "Look what I saw the other day!"

I found these at Wal-Mart.
Cookie scented deodorant.
How could you possibly go wrong?

So this year, I wrote my list of grievances of every bad thing from the last 2 years.
I took the list and burned it in the fireplace on New Year's Eve, effectively letting them go.

I found these at Target!  Bridgerton drops later this month.
Obviously, I had to buy these in order to celebrate!

Random Pictures

It’s a major photo dump! Okay, I’m going to try to keep it down to only a handful!

Life, as viewed from my phone!

My attempt at a Gingerbread House!

Sunrise. Busboys & Poets is across the street.

Watermelon Radishes. They’re beautiful, aren’t they?
I thought they would be sweet, but no - they’re bitter.
Still good, but not the taste I was expecting with those colors!

The water fountain by Whole Foods has been converted to a light fountain!

The cat, listening in on the weekly phone call with the kids.

The Udvar-Hazy Museum.
It’s a branch of the Smithsonian Air & Space Museum.
And it’s not on the mall.  It’s by Dulles Airport.

Look at the price on this roast.  $147.
$101 with a Bonus Card.
That’s $10/ pound.
Granted, it is a rib roast. But still… it feels really high.

Random Pictures

The last two months has seen a lot of upheaval in our lives.  Among other things, we moved to an apartment in another town so that our house could be renovated. (There are no affordable apartments near where we live.) We are back in the town where we first lived when we got married and started raising our family.  The move-out slowly continues. Here are some random photos from the past couple of months.

Hermie in our new apartment. Not only did she discover the space over the refrigerator, she also discovered how to open the cabinet over the refrigerator! Gotta love cats!

The path around the lake. I find myself walking this a lot.

Sunset from the hilltop at home.  #nofilter.

A floating island of weeds in the middle of the lake!

A pretty sunset! #nofilter

Mushrooms abound after all the rain we've had in the Mid-Atlantic recently. I found this little fairy ring on my Monday morning walk.

The lake is very pretty! Considering we live very close to here, I'm really glad that it's so easy and fun to walk around.

Above and below, pictures from the Rachel Carson Greenway in Montgomery County, MD. You can find more information about these trails here: https://montgomeryparks.org/parks-and-trails/rachel-carson-conservation-park/rachel-carson-conservation-park-trails/

Lots of floors Llamas!
But don’t play with them!

I stopped at the Wawa for gas and saw this.
Just what exactly is that thing?
It looks really cool!

I got to attend a virtual talk with Jason Reynolds!
He’s one of my all time favorite authors!

Snow in the hood!

Cat!

Every single one of Moms meals at the hospital was served with a beautiful flower on the tray.

I really like this meme….

Not sure what these are, but they are beautiful!

Kansas

We got out to see middle child over Memorial Day Weekend!  He is happy, and enjoying his new home and new job.  I really don't like having him so far away from home, but knowing that he is doing what he loves makes me very, very happy!

We explored a few places while we were out there.  We visited Fort Leavenworth - the oldest active Army post west of the Missouri River.  We paid our respects at the National Cemetery (it was Memorial Day), and we walked along the bluffs overlooking the river.  We visited the city of Lawrence - home of Kansas University, and we spent a lot of time talking, laughing, and playing games.

We even bought him some furniture.  When we moved him out there, we took his stuff, but no furniture because we couldn't fit it into our cars.  We asked him what he needed most, and he decided that he needed living room furniture.  One trip to Ikea later, we had two chairs and most of a sofa.  I say most because while they had the arm rests, they did not have the slip covers to go over the arm rests.  They were back ordered by 2 months.  The Ikea staff assured us the covers are in our Maryland stores, so it was my job to pick them up when I came home.  When we left, he had put everything together - but kept the arms off of the sofa so that he could put the slip covers on when he comes in.

It was a wonderful weekend.  All of the kids were able to make it out for the weekend, so we had the whole family together.  It just doesn't get much better than that!

New furniture for the boy.
Funny story about the living room furniture.  We got the armchairs, and all the parts were in.  We got the coffee table - all the parts were in.  We got the sofa - all the parts - except the slipcovers for the armchairs were in.  So, in the picture you see the sofa without the arms.  The arms are leaning up against the wall, under the window.  We came home, and I found the slipcovers for the sofa arms from the Ikea in College Park.  I mailed them out to him earlier this week.

Kansas City Sunset
I love the big skies and the gorgeous sunsets!

I love the cover on the storm sewer!

Random Pictures

Are Painted Rocks a thing where you live?  The idea is to paint the Rocks and hide them. Whoever finds the rock posts them to the Facebook Group listed on back of the rock and then resides them.  I found these in the library.  I'm going to hide them in another library today.

Christmas cards. I still haven't mailed them yet!

Sunset a couple of nights ago.  Just beautiful!

Random Pictures

These will be totally random!  For some reason, my tablet won't let me post text and photos. Until I can get back on the laptop, it's just Pictures!  FYI- daughter took the pictures while I was driving - not me!  Enjoy!

Edited 2/2/2017 - I've been having technology issues!  I need a new computer, but I'm in the middle of a spending moratorium so.....  things are going to be hit or miss for a while.

Misty, foggy drive home!

I kind of expect to see the headless horseman coming around the corner!

Daughter and I went to a presentation by local mystery authors presented by the Baltimore County Public Library.  All of these authors are fantastic!  If you see one of their books, grab a copy and enjoy their books!

I seem to have a thing for taking pictures on windy country roads, don't I?

Providing dinner at the Men's Shelter.

So here's my latest pet peeve, #Starbucks.  This is supposed to be a Very Berry Refresher.  It's supposed to be red.  What the hell is this?  I complained to the Barista, but she told me this was a Very Berry Refresher.  So, I was out over $4 for a glass of water.  So disappointed.

Random Pictures

I've posted pictures, but it's been a while since I've done a random batch of stuff!

Sunflower Fields.  They're starting to droop, but they're still gorgeous!

Disney marketing is out in force.  (I crack myself up!)

A gorgeous fall bouquet in the church office.

My newest treasure!  I found this wonderful water cup this past week!

Daughter should have waited to buy the string lights for her dorm room - she could have used these!

I bought these to bling out my beautiful ankle brace.  At least I've got style!

So, this past weekend, hubby and I went exploring the apple orchards in Central Maryland.  We ranged through Carroll and Frederick Counties, picking up a half bushel of apples and other various goodies wherever we stopped.  We now have 10 pounds of bell peppers and garlic, a half bushel of peaches, more bushels of apples than I care to count, little mini pumpkin gourds,  10 pounds of onions, 4 pounds of sweet potatoes, a pound of tiny little new potatoes, 5 pounds of all purpose potatoes (the bag is a mix of many different types of mid-size potatoes), goat cheese, a gluten free apple pie, 3 pounds of broccoli, and mums.  The total cost of our massive haul came out under $100.  Now, the challenge is on to eat all of this yummy goodness before it goes bad!

Catoctin Mountain Orchard.

Need a pumpkin?  These gorgeous beauties were under $10 each.

After our first stop.  I think we might need help.

The picnic area at Cunningham Falls State Park.

Some of the apples!  I've scattered them around the house in bowls and on trays.

And the cute little pumpkin gourds!
