We all kept one packed when we were pregnant. Lovingly packed with the items we thought we would need when our child was born.
I keep one in my car constantly now. This way, I can head down to the hospital to be with Mom at the drop of a hat, knowing that I have everything I need on hand and won't have to stop at Wal-Mart to buy pajamas or a toothbrush.
What do I keep in my bag?
2 changes of clothes, including underwear
1 sweater, because the hospitals are just so darn cold
1 toothbrush
toothpaste
deoderant
dental floss
the charger for my Kindle.
Besides my wallet, I now carry the following items in my purse:
Kindle
Extra Charger for my cell phone
My cell phone
$40 extra in cash
A couple of granola bars
Into my cell phone, I have programmed the numbers for all of Mom's immediate family.
My sister and I are keeping a spiral notebook on the counter in Mom's room. In it, we are communicating back and forth with each other, as well as the medical staff. We have made certain that they have our cell phone numbers. We have given them updates on things we see happening with Mom, that seem a little out of the ordinary.
Every morning, I put my pillow and an extra blanket in the car, and I pull it out every evening before I go to bed.
I am also keeping the gas tank in the van more than half full. That's enough to get me down there without having to stop and refill.
What are some helpful things you've carried in your car when you have a loved one who is sick?
